Beautiful or dreadful? Locs have always walked on both sides of the beauty spectrum. Appreciated for its naturalness but disliked for its looks, there always seems to be some sort of controversy with the decision to wear locs. When I decided to loc my hair my family's perception on locs (being ugly and untidy) really affected how much I could embrace and celebrate my decision in the beginning of my journey. Eventually I had to learn that my family, in fact everyone, will always have their own opinion on my life choices but that's exactly what it is, their opinion. Once I learned how to deal with the perception of people my loc journey really blossomed into something really beautiful.
